Biodiversity 2: Applied

This module covers the practical, numerical side of biodiversity measurement, including sampling, identification and collections management. 

The use of taxonomy in biodiversity studies is covered, as well as mapping the distribution of species and measuring diversity and rarity value. 

The module studies the use of identification tools, including handbooks, species diversity databases, and the principles of automated key construction. 

Organisational, curatorial and financial aspects of museum collections are discussed from a theoretical basis.
