Interests

I am a specialist (morphologist/taxonomist), with 40 years of experience and more than 300 publications, on the systematics of helminth parasites (all groups but especially the Trematoda and Nematoda), with a particular interest in those from fishes and aquatic mammals. I also have some expertise with data-bases and faunistics.

Recent activities

Co-editing a three-volume series: Keys to the Trematoda.

Acting as the Fauna Europaea Coordinator for animal parasitic helminths.

Maintaining the WWW Virtual Library: Parasitology, a website with a compilation of more than 670 links.

Editing Systematic Parasitology

Being involved with numerous projects on the helminth parasites (Digenea, Monogenea, Cestoda, Nematoda and Acanthocephala) mainly of aquatic organisms. Such projects range from ultrastructure to faunistics as well as systematics, and involve cooperation with workers from many countries, including Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, France, Malaysia, Russia and Spain.
