Research interests
- The history of natural history collecting, especially with regard to the Challenger Voyage and Hans Sloaneās Materia Medica and Vegetable Substances collections.
- Development of the British Pharmacopoeia during the 17th and 18th Centuries.
Current activities
Professional responsibilities:
- Developing and managing Access policies, particularly with regard to the Darwin Centre and providing an efficient advisory and information service for both external and internal customers.
- Arranging and delivering presentations and tours for museum professionals and other client groups.
- Co-ordinating activities within the areas of the Darwin Centre which are accessed by the public.
- Advising on and arranging loans of material for exhibitions in other organisations
Current and ongoing projects:
- Broadening access to the national collection for target groups including professional artists and provision for visitors with disabilities.
- Creating a series of presentations for Darwin Centre Live based on the history of collecting.
