Broadstone, Wimborne

Dec[embe]r. 21st. 1906

In the current no, of "Nature" -- (Dec[embe]r. 20th) p. 184, is an illustration of the effects of forest clearing in the N[?]. States (N[orth]. Carolina). In Ceylon the same has occued on an enormous scale, as in all countries -- especially tropical, where the forests have been cleared from mountain slopes. Seldom is any record of them to be found but in Geological or official reports.

Yours truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
