1. In the top left of page one of the manuscript, a square red emblem has the text "George Allen", "Publisher[,] London", "Ruskin House" and "156 Charing Cross Road" printed in the outer banner.

2. In the top right of page two of the manuscript, there are two overlapping stamps. The first is a green, rectangular halfpenny postage stamp, and the second is a black, circular stamp which reads "LONDON 2.15.54[?] OC[TOBER] 3 [19]03".

3. Wallace, Alfred Russel (1823-1913). British naturalist and co-discoverer of natural selection with Charles Darwin.
