Portsmouth

Feb.[ruary] 8th. 1854

Dear Sir

I have received this morning a letter from the Admiralty offering me a circuitous passage to Australia in the "Juno", which I have written to accept.

If you can get me a letter of introduction to Capt[ai]n Fremantle I should be much obliged.

In haste | Yours faithfully | Alfred R Wallace [signature]

Dr Norton Shaw.
