1. Manuscript text in top right hand corner reads "143".

2. The letter bears an impression of the Coat of Arms of the sender on the top left hand corner.

3. Crookes, Sir William OM FRS (1832 - 1919). British chemist and physicist. He was greatly interested, inter alia, in spritualism, becoming president of the Society for Psychical Research in the 1890s.
