and 66 Chandos Street,

Covent Garden,

London, W.C.

3 October 1912

Dr. A. Russell [sic] Wallace,

Old Orchard,

Dear Dr. Wallace,

I am sending you herewith the proof of your article marked by the editor. The only thing he is in difficulty about is the length of it. If you could condense it rather than shorten it, it would help us very much; but I am very loth to give you any more trouble than is necessary, so kindly do your best and send it back, and we will put in it.

If you could send the editor a copy of that Autobiography you wrote some time ago that would be all that he would need.

Yours very gratefully, | J. M. Dent1 [signature]
