Checklists of UK species

Introduction

Checklists are lists of species compiled to

  • cover a piece of legislation eg a list of endangered species in Ireland
  • define taxonomic group eg a list of all UK birds

The checklists are complied by an authority such as a government agencies, scientific experts and conservation organisations. The authorities own the intellectual property and copyright of the list.

The Dictionary of UK species contains over 250 checklists of species provided by a variety of government, conservation and scientific experts and organisations.
