9 records

This is another of the six species originally described when Deevey (1968) established the genus. It is a very large species with scaly sculpturing and a very large rostrum that has almost always taken very close to the sea bed. Two of the original records are of specimens found in the guts of two species of bottom-feeding fish, Bathypterois and It is only known from the North Atlantic from 18°N to 50°N. All the records come from deep water, the shallowest from a pelagic tow at 2000-2500m, the deepest a near sea-bed tow at 5400m.
