Patrick Campbell

Diving with the RAF surveying the damage caused by the 2004 Tsunami in Thailand was just one part of Patrick's past duties as a curator of fish (He has changed his position since this interview and is now Senior Curator of Reptiles). His main duties lie in the conservation and management of the collections held at the Museum.

Patrick highlights the importance of maintaining high standards of collection management, despite the financial difficulties that come with preserving historical collections. He has contributed widely to various wildlife preservation projects, including the Whale Strandings Project.

Patrick has seen the Museum change over the last 25 years, and although its staff no longer enjoy the awe-inspiring experience of walking through the grand entrance each morning, he has seen the Museum become less formal, more diverse and attractive to younger scientists.
