Prionospio

Prostomium more or less straight with straight or rounded anterior edge. Caruncle can be elongated. Prostomium fused with setiger1. Parapodia of setiger 1 reduced. Branchiae occuring from setiger 2 and extend down the dody to varying degrees. Setigers with branchiae have large postsetal lobes. Setae on anterior setigers capillaries. Hooded hooks found in both notopodia and neuropodia. Hooks usually multidentate.
