Nauphanta

5 occipital antennae. Branchiae from setiger 30, pectinate. Acicula and subacicular hooks light to dark brown. Setae slender limbate, expanded flat fan-shaped setae arranged in row on anterior face of posterior parapodia. Ventral cirri tapering. Notopodial cirri tapering and short, without articulations.

This genus was resurrected by K.Fauchald (1987). Redescription of the genus Naupanta Kinberg, 1865 (Polychaeta: Eunicidae.Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, 100(2): 3775-380.

There are two species currently in the genus: Nauphanta mossambica (formerly Marphysa mossambica) and Nauphanta novaehollandiae (formerly Eunice novaehollandae)
