Scalibregmidae

Body tends to be short and inflated anteriorly although some elongate forms occur. The prostomium is bilobed and often in the form of frontal horns. Parapodia are biramous and both noto- and neuropodia have simple capillary and, usually, furcate setae. Acicular spines may also occur. Many species have branched branchiae on anterior segments.
