Oweniidae

Worms found in a tough sandy tube. Body elongate with most segments longer than they are wide. The parapodia are poorly developed. Prostomium and peristomium are fused and in many species are equipped with a frilly food-gathering membrane. The notosetae are capillary but the neurosetae are minute bi- or tridentate hooks which occur in dense bands.
