Users can search the Dictionary of UK species for
- names of organisms by their common and scientific names
- individual lists and their contents
- a hierarchical classification

- presenting various versions and editions of a number of important checklists
- allowing the user to investigate the change in
- names
- threat status of taxa within particular groups of organisms over time
- containing the legal designations and conservation status of protected species
Species pages
Individual species pages show
- current recommended scientific name
- list 'non-recommended' names that have been used in checklists or by biological recorders. These names include obsolete scientific names and variants of names (perhaps with a mistake in the spelling).
- links to relevant external web sites.
Over time, we aim to add useful facts and images to these pages.
