Reproducing data from the Dictionary
Where details of the author of an entry are given, acknowledgement must be provided for their input in any derived information product or publication that is based wholly or in part on that record.
Data owners may have imposed additional Specific Terms of Access on the use of their datasets, and these must be respected. Any data to which such conditions apply will be clearly labeled.
The production of a tradable commodity based in whole or part on the data is prohibited unless you have obtained written permission from the Natural History Museum and paid any royalties due. A tradable commodity is defined here as an item, which may be sold for profit a multiple number of times. This includes, but is not limited to, books, multimedia products, software tools and subscription websites
