Role in the project

My PhD project is centered on the taxonomy and phylogeny of the genus Solanum. My main interest lies in Solanum subgenus Leptostemonum or the "spiny solanums". I am working on phylogenetic, taxonomic, and morphological problems in multiple sections, including sections Micracantha and Erythrotrichum. I am currently finishing a revision on a non-spiny section Gonatotrichum that is notable for its explosive fruit dehiscence. My PhD dissertation work will result in a monograph on section Micracantha as well as clarification of the phylogeny of the spiny solanums.
