Mars surface features, also see the rotating globe

The 1/64o MOLA shaded DEM above shows the main topographic features of Mars. The main division between the ancient highlands and the younger (less cratered) northern lowlands is evident. The superimposition of the Tharsis volcanic region - containing the Shield volcanoes of Tharsis Montes - onto the lowlands/highlands division is also seen.

The Viking 1, 2, Pathfinder and Mars 3 landing sites (see Mars Missions) are shown and so is the Beagle 2 landing site in Isidis Planitia.
