After 10 productive years coordinating research at the Las Cuevas Research Station, the Natural History Museum has now officially transferred management to a new consortium. On Friday 5th November 2004, Las Cuevas was successfully handed over to an exciting consortium of institutions comprising, Maya Forest Enterprises, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and the Conservation Management Institute from Virginia Technical University. During the ceremony an MOU was signed between the Government of Belize and this new partnership. The primary focus of Las Cuevas continues to be biological research. The station is currently open for business and the new management looks forward to welcoming researchers to Las Cuevas, either to continue existing projects or to start new ones.
