Close to Acrosalenia but distinguished from that genus by its dicyclic apical disc (in Acrosalenia the periproct is bounded by ocular plates I and V). Distinguished from Hyposaleniinae by having perforate tubercles. Distinguished from Heterosalenia by having the periproct symmetrically placed along the anterior-posterior axis. Pseudosalenia is very similar, with an identical apical disc structure, but has simple ambulacral plating at the ambitus and its adoral ambulacral tubercles are perforate and crenulate.
