Egyptechinus Lambert, 1936, p. 41

Diagnostic Features
  • Test small, flattened below, weakly domed above.
  • Apical disc modest, possibly subcircular, about one-third test diameter in length. Plates not bound to corona, always missing.
  • Ambulacra straight; plating trigeminate throughout, compounded in glyptechinid style one small demiplate alternating with two full elements bearing a tubercle, the lower of the two being the larger). Pore-pairs undifferentiated; uniserial adapically, but in offset lines of three at ambitus and adorally, No phyllodes.
  • A single primary tubercle to each compound plate; test too worn to identify secondaries.
  • Interambulacral plates a little wider than tall; with a single primary tubercle, positioned centrally; small secondary tubercle interradially and one or two along adradial margin of ambital and subambital plates.
  • Tubercles imperforate and crenulate.
