Family Stomopneustidae Mortensen, 1903, p. 133

Diagnosis

 Echinacea with:

  • apical disc hemicyclic, enclosing periproct;
  • pore-pairs in strongly offset arcs at ambitus and adapically;
  • ambulacral plate compounding stomopneustid;
  • Primary tubercles imperforate and non-crenulate.

Upper Jurassic to Recent, Europe, North America, Middle East, North Africa.

Remarks

Closely resembling Stomechinidae but with coarse primary tubercles and biserial pore-pairs aborally.

The following genus probably belongs here but remains poorly known.
