Distinguished from Hemicidaridae by having ambulacral and interambulacral tubercles more or less similar in size. Distinguished from Emiratiidae by having a small dicyclic apical disc with no intercalated periproctal plates. Distinguished from Phymosomatidae by having perforate tubercles and simple ambulacral compounding, with all elements reaching the perradius.
