Remarks | Supposedly differs from Cardiopelta by having the periproct opening at the very end of the rostrate posterior. Although this differentiates it from some of the more truncate species included in Cardiopelta, the type species Cardiopelta trigonalis is almost as pointed as Collyropsis carinata. Indeed it seems likely that given study, Desor\'s Collyrites trigonalis will prove to be a junior synonym of Leske\'s Spatangus carinatus, and the two genera will be objective synonyms. The specimen illustrated here comes from the Lambert collection. |
