1. The sampling locations and the predicted deposition rate of sewage sludge particles to the seafloor (Dr Mike Bothner, USGS, 1992).
Samples were collected at two sites in 1992 during disposal: the 106 Mile contaminated site and a comparable reference site. In 1996, four years after the last bargeload of sewage sludge had been dumped, four sites were sampled: the 26, 50 and 106 Mile contaminated sites and a comparable reference site.
Comparison between these sites allows us to evaluate the impact of waste on the fauna and monitor the remediation (ie recovery) of the benthic life after four years.
