5. Summary of experiences

Best results are yielded in fluorescence mode with only slightly compressed specimens embedded in glycerine jelly slides. All examined specimens showed (auto-) fluorescence. Fuchsine turned out to be a fluorescent dye. Prolonged and multiple scanning causes bleaching and must be avoided.
