Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:-

When established, Cryptoblabes contained a second nominal species doubtfully included. Under the Code, Article 67(h), a doubtfully included nominal species cannot be validly designated as type-species.

CRYPTOBLABES was included within the subfamily PYRALIDAE: PHYCITINAE by Munroe & Solis, in Kristensen (1999).
