Born digital: Biodiversity Data Journal

The informatics group in collaboration with an external publisher has developed a new online journal platform that is changing the face of biodiversity publishing.

The Biodiversity Data Journal (BDJ) is the first journal created, reviewed and published online.

The integration of the Scratchpads and Biodiversity Data Journal online platforms allows:

  • researchers to write and submit manuscripts (Scratchpads)
  • community peer-review (BDJ)
  • publishers to edit and publish (BDJ)
  • researchers to store and display biodiversity data (Scratchpads)

The integration of these two platforms encourages scientists to share biodiversity data online making it accessible and reusable by the scientific community.

We are working to create an infrastructure to make all scientific data linked and accessible.
