Heaviest bush-cricket Deinacrida heteracantha

Deinacrida heteracantha, otherwise known as the New Zealand wetapunga is the heaviest known orthopteroid insect.

Females of this endangered insect can measure up to 72mm in body length excluding the ovipositor (the egg-laying tube) and one especially large pregnant individual was found to weigh 71.3 grams.
