Acer palmatum, although there are more than 100 species of maple worldwide, only one species (Acer campestre) is native to the UK.

This online directory provides links to the web pages of a wide variety of general natural history and subject specific organisations in Britain and Ireland. Local, county and national groups and societies are represented.

Societies are searchable by name, keyword (for example 'natural history', 'birds', 'insects' etc), initial letter or region. You may compile a list of societies by clicking the add link associated with each society. This will build a list for you, that can be sent as an email or printed.   More information

Updates and new organisations

If you wish to update your society details or be added to this directory please email the database administrator.

We will be launching a new societies directory in spring 2012, so updates to the current listings will only be made until March 2012.

After this date we will be contacting societies and organisations about registering for the new directory.
