Archives Catalogue: about

The Archive catalogue was developed using DS Ltd’s CALM for Archives software. Data was initially transferred from a previous database in Idealist, and mapped to CALM.

Data quality

We are aware that information is not always consistent in the Archive catalogue, partly due to the data transfer. However, the catalogue is undergoing a process of editing, and we hope that many issues will be resolved.

The catalogue is structured to conform to the International Standard of Archival Description (ISADG).

Name authorities are constructed using National Council on Archives Rules for the Construction of Personal, Place and Corporate Place Names (1997).

The catalogue will be developed to include subject terms based on the UK Archival Thesaurus (UKAT), and place names will be developed using the UNESCO thesaurus, and the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names.
