Investigating human remains at a crime scene.
Investigations generally involve the identification of an individual which can be difficult when a body is decomposed or incomplete.
The most common investigations for a forensic anthropologist involve determining
- if remains are animal or human?
- if remains are modern or historical?
- what is the person's
- age?
- sex?
- stature (height)?
- ancestry?
The museum’s forensic anthropology staff
- attend scenes of crime and post - mortem examinations
- analyse human remains or suspected human remains
- produce expert witness statements
- advise crime scene personnel and pathologists on methodologies
