Former Aberystwyth Microfossil Collection

The collection includes:

  • a wide variety of studies covering many geological periods
  • older studies of contemporary foraminifera assemblage.

These provide a unique opportunity to revisit numerous settings and evaluate changes in foraminifera abundance and diversity over time

The collection contains theses and corresponding materials of Aberystwyth University’s former diploma, MSc and PhD students, dating back to the 1950s. The collection was donated to the museum in 2000 when Aberystwyth University stopped teaching geology.

An online database allowing quick reference to the materials is available.
