Research visitor facilities

The Palaeontology Department has a number of facilities and resources available for research visitors to the fossil bryozoan collection.

Visitor’s room

There is a visitor’s room equipped with:

  • a standard compound microscope
  • a separate camera stand and lighting

Visitors to the fossil bryozoan collection may use this room by prior arrangement with either the Collections Manager or Bryozoa Curator.

Bryozoa resource room with specialist library

There is also a resource room containing:

  • bench space
  • a networked computer
  • books, monographs and an extensive reprint collection on all aspects of fossil and relevant Bryozoa

This room can be used with the consent of the Collections Manager, the Bryozoa researcher or the Bryozoa Curator.

Scanning electron micrograph card index

The department has more than 50,000 SEM cards depicting images of bryozoans in our collections, plus others that have been borrowed over the years for research purposes.
