The radiolarian collection may be the smallest of the Palaeontology Department’s micropalaeontology collections but it is still significant as it contains historically important material collected in the late 1800s by Ernst Haeckel.
The collection contains both fossil and modern specimens, and is supported by an extensive radiolarian book and reprint collection donated by Bill Riedel.
The department also houses part of the Natural History Museum’s collection of Blaschka glass radiolarian models.
