Palynology collections

The Palaeontology Department’s collection of palynomorphs was greatly enhanced when the Former British Petroleum Microfossil Collection of around 78,000 slides was donated in the early 1990s.

The palynology collections also contain:

  • important type specimens, most notably in the Duxbury (1983) Collection. All the figured specimens from this collection can be viewed online.

Go to the Duxbury (1983) database of Cretaceous dinoflagellate cysts
  • unique collections of Lower Palaeozoic palynomorphs and Jurassic dinoflagellates from the work of Natural History Museum researchers.
