Ostracod collections
Ostracods
The Palaeontology Department has enormous collections of fossil and Recent ostracods.
The core of these is the Type and Figured Collection which:
- contains about 100,000 slides
- is referred to in over 600 scientific publications
- covers the whole stratigraphic range of the Ostracoda and is particularly strong for the Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Pliocene to the present day
Ostracod slides are also present in 3 large donated collections:
- Former British Petroleum Microfossil Collection
- Hull University Collection
- Former Aberystwyth Micropalaeontological Collection
