Mounting botanical specimens
Collections management in the Botany Department covers:
- care and maintenance of existing collections
- collection expansion and development
Much of our effort is currently directed at providing better access to specimens and the information they contain, especially through provision of online resources such as databases.
Caring for the collections requires specialist skills. As well as curators, we have staff who prepare new material using a variety of techniques, some unchanged for centuries, others using modern technology.
