Personal interests

  • Identification of tropical bryophytes.
  • Nomenclature and typification of bryophyte taxa.

Current Activities

  • Development and electronic documentation of historical collections ( e.g.’s Herb. Robert Brown, Herb. James Dickson).
  • Location and electronic documentation of unrecognised type specimens in the Bryophyte Herbarium (NHM).
  • Improving physical housing and updating nomenclatural organisation of the bryophyte collections.
  • Identification, databasing and incorporation into the herbarium of unprocessed bryophyte collections (backlog collections). Presently addressing recent Malesian and African collections.

  • Bryoflora of Old World tropics.

Current Projects

  • Investigation of the bryoflora of the islands of the western Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Mascarenes, Seychelles, etc.), with special reference to the moss family Calymperaceae.
