  • Clays in acid environments on Mars. Funded by the Marie Curie Programme of the European Community.
  • Co-evolution of plants and soils – a comparative approach: Investigation of the evolution of plants and soils in early terrestrial ecosystems. Funded by the Natural History Museum.
  • Clay transformations in Brazilian Mangroves. In collaboration with the University of Sao Paulo.
  • A possible hydrothermal origin of Martian phyllosilicates: Exploring the talc/saponite-nontronite system. Funded by the Marie Curie Programme of the European Community.
  • Mechanism of kaolinite transformation into dickite in a diagenetic environment. Partially funded by the Erasmus Programme of the European Community.
  • Genetic and environmental study of the origin of podoconiosis in Ethiopia. In collaboration with the Universities of Sussex, Cambridge, Buea (Cameroon), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and National Institutes of Health (USA). Funded by the Wellcome Trust.
