(Claw of Baryonyx walkeri) Baryonyx means 'heavy claw'. Unusually for a carnivorous dinosaur we know it ate fish as scientists have found fish scales and teeth with its fossil where its stomach would have been.

School visits

Extinction: Not the End of the World? is open to school groups from Monday to Friday during term time from 8 February - 8 September 2013.

The exhibition is suitable for ages 7 and above (Year 3 upwards). There are links to the curriculum at Key Stage 4 and AS and A2 Level.

School pupils can visit the Extinction exhibition for the discounted price of £3 per pupil. Accompanying adults visit for free.

To book discounted tickets call the schools booking team on +44 (0)20 7942 5555. Payment must be received at least 2 weeks in advance in order to secure your booking. Maximum group size is 50 pupils.

About the exhibition

In Extinction: Not the End of the World? students will see real specimens of extinct species, including bizarre insects, super-sized birds, giant deer, and the iconic dodo. They will learn more about our current endangered species and conservation work and explore the factors that drive extinction and past mass extinctions.
