The short-haired bumblebee was last recorded in the UK in 1988. Vanishing habitat caused numbers to decline and this charismatic species was officially declared extinct in the UK in 2000. Now, after years of careful planning and negotiation, a team of experts has embarked on a special mission to bring the short-haired bumblebee back to Britain.
