A cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus). The cheetah has a top speed of up to 114 kilometres per hour but this can only be maintained for short distances of a few hundred metres. We have a varied programme of temporary exhibitions that changes three times a year. Some feature specimens from the Natural History Museum in South Kensington and many are hands-on, so you can join in the fun.

Our special events fit in with exhibitions, school holidays and national annual events such as Science Week (March) and Museums' month (May). They include a programme of talks and walks for adults and children.

A themed activity trail is available for children. Children under eight years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
