Exploring the cultural value of natural history
From Holman Hunt’s portrait of Richard Owen and Japanese translations of Darwin’s Origin of Species, to tales of time capsules in the Museum’s blue whale model and religious offerings in the shape of mummified cats, the Natural History Museum holds a rich archive of information for arts and humanities scholars.
Building on our previous successes, CAHR are aiming to develop projects that inspire and engage both academic and general interest audiences.
