Coleoptera research

Coleoptera or beetles consist of approximately 400,000 species, with new species identified regularly. In total they make up 25% of all life forms. 

Coleoptera research at the Natural History Museum falls into two categories:

  • the evolution of diversity in Coleoptera
  • research into the largest family, the weevils
