Photographic postcard showing the view from Wallace's house, Old Orchard at Broadstone in Dorset, undated, circa 1901.
This postcard is by an unknown photographer. It illustrates the beautiful views from Wallace's final house, Old Orchard, at Broadstone in Dorset. The sepia print shows a panorama of fields, hills and woods and, in the distance, water.
Wallace purchased the land to build this house on a site previously used as an orchard. He was excited to have purchased the land and drew up his own plans for the house. He and his wife Annie remained there until Wallace's death in 1913.
