This small sepia photograph shows Nutwood Cottage in Godalming, Surrey. Wallace planned and built this house for himself and his wife Annie in 1880. The image shows Wallace's immaculate gardens - a perfect lawn with a small path flanked by shrubs, trees and flowers. A conservatory is also visible. Wallace maintained a passion for gardening throughout his life and shared his botanical hobby with Annie. They lived at Nutwood Cottage from 1881 until 1889.
