Meet Charles Darwin in the Museum galleries to hear about his life and some of his theories. Why did he visit the Galapagos Islands and what did he see when he was there?
Overview of the session:
- Charles Darwin introduces himself and shares stories about his interest in collecting beetles. He uses beetle specimens to introduce the idea of evolution by natural selection.
- Darwin explains why he was on the HMS Beagle and how the voyage changed his life and set him thinking about his theory of evolution.
- Darwin talks about his family and how he continued his research throughout his life, publishing On the Origin of Species in 1859.
