Acer palmatum, although there are more than 100 species of maple worldwide, only one species (Acer campestre) is native to the UK.

    Oxford University Museum of Natural History has a popular education programme and offers free taught sessions for students at every Key Stage.

    At Stoke-on-Trent Museums, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of free learning activities linked to the National Curriculum for science.

    At the Great North Museum: Hancock the aim is to provide all pupils in the Newcastle area the opportunity to attend exciting, interactive workshops based around the many natural science and archaeology objects in the museum’s collection.

    Leeds Museums and Galleries is one of the UK’s major museum services. Our collections total some 1.3 million items spread across 9 sites.  We were recently awarded Arts Council England Major Partner status and are thrilled to be part of Real World Science.

    Wollaton Hall (Nottingham City Museums and Galleries)

    Wollaton Hall, a splendid Tudor Mansion, sits in 500 acres of deer park and is the home of Nottingham City Museums & Galleries' natural history collection, which includes over 750,000 geology, botany and zoology specimens.
